Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched netPC in the Uttar Pradesh (east) circle in association with Chennai-based Novatium Solutions to provide affordable Internet connectivity, especially in rural areas.
Indian Government may opt for auction model for additional spectrum

In order to to resolve the critical issue of additional spectrum allocation, the Union Government of India has set up a panel, which is submitting their report in the next 10 days. The panel is shifted from the current subscriber based spectrum allocation to auction mode allocation.
China up 11 places in index of information technology

TRAI 15.64 mn wireless subscribers added in Mar 2009

Telecom Regulation Authority of India (TRAI) has recorded that 15.64 million wireless subscribers have been added in March 2009 and for the first time in two years wireline subscriber-base has increased marginally, indicating an overall growth for the telecom sector.
Zimbabwe plans to provide 3G services

Soon Zimbabwe will also join other Southern and East African countries to offer 3G services across the country. Other countries; Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, Uganda and Kenya are providing 3G services, with subscribers enjoying video calling and mobile Internet access including wireless broadband data services.
Green mobile network for rural Sri Lanka under trial
