Tata Comm eyes SMEs for WiMAX rollout

Tata Communications will focus on the home and small and medium enterprise (SME) segments for its planned WiMAX rollout later in the year. The company is looking to offer voice and other value-added services on high-speed wireless broadband and will not target mobile users initially.
India tops ICT export, says World Bank report

According to the report published by the World Bank, India's exports from the ICT sector increased from about $5 billion in 2000 to over $30 billion in 2006. The report entitled, 'World Development Indicators 2009', says that India exports 42 per cent of total service exports. India's software industry employs about 1.6 million people.
Study: 73% of MSMEs in India have their own websites

According to a survey jointly conducted by Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) and eStatsIndia, 73 per cent of MSMEs in India have their own websites, while 99 per cent of MSMEs use online B2B (business to business) marketplaces to generate business.
Microsoft targets SMEs in India

In order to target SME sector in India, Microsoft has launched its Window Server 2008 Foundation in partnership with HP and Dell to roll out the product across the country. The company is also talking to other original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to further strengthen the distribution channel for Window Server 2008 Foundation.
IIM-A, Union Bank sign MoU for SME research

The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Union Bank of India (UBI) to undertake research on the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector. According to the MoU, the organisations will be setting up a 'Union Bank-IIMA Centre of Excellence' as well as a 'Union Bank Chair Professor of SME', a research chair to study SMEs.
CII, NSIC launches I'msme portal for Indian MSME sector

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) announced the launch of I'msme portal for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
