ITU has established a new study group to deal with climate change

International telecommunication Union (ITU) has established a Focus Group on ICTs and Climate Change and will formalize the Focus Group’s output as ITU-T Recommendations including a methodology for evaluating the effects of ICTs on climate change both in direct terms and how ICTs can reduce emission in other industry sectors.
TERI and DELL launch “The Climate EduXchange Initiative” in India

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) has launched the 'Climate EduXchange Initiative', an IT-enabled Climate initiative in partnership with Dell to improve environment education in schools across India.
Urban EcoMap offers Climate Change Info

Cisco, and the County of San Francisco, have collaborated to start a pilot project called Urban EcoMap, that will educate people about climate change and to spur a shift to climate-friendly social behavior in cities.
Tree Tracking goes Hi-tech in India

A team of botanists in Mumbai are planning to map trees with the help of GPS based etchnology. Environmentalist, Ramesh Madav and his team, who have founded Terracon Ecotech Pvt. Ltd, will be out with equipment that can determine the exact location of a tree using global positioning system, or GPS, a satellite-based technology typically used in vehicle navigation and location-based information search.
'Go green': New IT Mantra

On the occasion of the Earth Day that was served April 22, 2009 most of IT companies pledge to conserve the environment’s resources and save energy costs in the bargain. According to the study conducted by IDC in the Asia-Pacific region, 18 percent of the organisation consider the greenness of the IT suppliers before making a selection, and another 30 per cent are expected to do so in the near future.
NuAlgi : A new way to clean up the rivers, lakes

Bangalore, India based NuAlgi Nanobiotech has launched a new product, called NuAlgi,to clean rivers. The product will not only cleans a polluted water body without affecting its ecology, but also adds nutrients to it, increasing the food content for fish.
